People Coordinator

Head of People

Our Head Office in Calgary.

Job overview

As a People Coordinator at Evans Hunt, you’ll be working to deliver a top-notch experience for our top-notch staff. In operational terms, that means supporting our human resource functions across the organization. While keeping up with the day-to-day functions of Human Resources, you’ll ensure that our employees are always the number one priority. This means you’re likely to find yourself juggling multiple tasks at once. No problem! You are, after all, a master of coordination.

Who we’re looking for

You’re a professional people-person, excited to deliver meaningful employee experiences with a human-centered lens. You’re an agile, prepared and proactive worker. You probably never forget a birthday. How could you, when you keep a list of the dates handy, alongside flawlessly timed calendar reminders? You love when things run like a well-oiled machine. (We do too.)

You have great attention to detail.

Nothing slips past you. You’re the first one in docs providing feedback, and the the last one to check things off. In fact, you’re so good with details that you probably caught the mistake in the last sentence. Impressive.

You're proficient in software like BambooHR, Microsoft Office, etc.

Your skill with these tools makes every day administrative functions a breeze.

You're collaborative. You love working with people to understand problems and find solutions. Creating strong relationships across disciplines is important to you.

You are organized. With so many moving parts to manage, you’re always one step ahead of everyone. You love a good spreadsheet and a well-organized folder structure. You wield your calendar like a finely honed blade, anticipating timelines before anyone else is even thinking of them. You probably crush at board games.

You communicate effectively. Whether it’s a call with an employee about an update or a meeting with a manager to discuss new processes, you can rattle off the facts and stats as needed.

You're flexible. You know when to hold your ground and when to adapt your approach or recommendations based on feedback. You win the hearts and minds of people by helping them ask the right questions, probing when necessary.

A day in the life

No two agency days are the same. One day you may be helping the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) committee with their action plans, the next day you could be supporting managers in recruiting talented candidates (like yourself!).

That said, there are some activities that are likely going to take up most of your time:

  • Administering our benefits program, including enrollments, changes and terminations
  • Providing full cycle recruitment support for department heads including onboarding and new employee orientation
  • Coordinating Employee Training, Performance Management, and Professional Development with department heads
  • Assisting the DEI Committee move initiatives forward
  • Processing internal arrangements such as travel, training sessions and team building events.
  • Preparing and amending where necessary HR documents such as employment agreements, recruitment guides etc.
  • Reviewing and renewing company policies to ensure legal compliance
  • Acting as first point of contact for any HR related queries

  • Proven experience as a HR Administrator or HR Coordinator
  • Experience with HR software systems such as BambooHR
  • Good understanding of HR policies and best practices
  • Ability to prioritize and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to keep sensitive information confidential
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A certification in HR, management or similar is considered an asset but not mandatory

What's in it for you?

Evans Hunt is a full-service digital agency focused on the integration of strategy, creative and technology. Our experienced team of 100+ employees deliver complete marketing solutions for top local, national and international organizations. We’re a fun place that does good work.

Here’s what we’re offering:

  • Culture & lifestyle: We take pride in our work, but family and wellbeing need nurturing too, so you’ll have flexible hours. A respectful and inclusive workplace in which all are welcome is important to us and we’re not much for micromanaging.
  • Office availability: We are in the heart of Calgary but welcome remote workers; that said, this role is required to work in the office regularly.
  • Stuff: A laptop and a phone allowance will be provided, along with health and dental benefits, a health spending account, and some other nice perks.

What we’ll ask

You know the drill! There are a couple of things we’d like to see with your application:

  • Cover letter: It’s true, companies discard applications that don’t include a cover letter. Don’t let it happen to you. Take this opportunity to tell us a little about yourself and why you’re perfect for the job.

  • Resume: We’d love a summary of your previous work experience. Give us a glimpse of your many impressive skills so we’ll know a bit about you before an interview is scheduled.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Evans Hunt embraces and encourages the differences and characteristics that make our employees unique. The rich perspectives that result from DE&I promote innovation and business success and make us more creative, flexible, productive, and competitive. These differences are an important part of not only our culture but our reputation and achievements. At Evans Hunt, diversity is a fact, and equity and inclusion are choices we make as individuals and leaders.
