Job overview

Dear design enthusiast,

At Evans Hunt, our mission is to create powerful, positive experiences that combine strategy, creative and technology. We’re hiring a designer who has experience in some (but not necessarily all) of the crafts of interactive design, branding and campaigns.* You will continue to develop these skills in a fun, cooperative environment led by mentors who have been doing this for QUITE some time. Your addition to the team will extend our capabilities and push our work to new creative heights—we can hardly wait.

*Our research tells that some groups—women for example—tend to underrate their abilities in these domains. If you feel uncertain, apply anyway and show us what you’ve got!

Who we’re looking for

Your professional or academic experience has given you the ability to create meaningful work with a human-centred lens. You believe in a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to projects and that diverse perspectives lead to stronger work.

If the person below sounds like you, you should definitely apply.

You've got a stunning and varied portfolio. You’re proud of the work you’ve done, eager to share and always pushing to improve.

You have a deep understanding of UX/UI design and wireframing. You’re knowledgeable but excited to learn more—you pride yourself in staying on the cutting edge of industry tech.

You're proficient in software like Figma, Sketch and Adobe CS. You know all the shortcuts and can probably teach us a few new tricks.

You can put on speed without sacrificing quality. It’s a busy business, but you know how to both keep up and excel. You believe there’s always time to put care into what you’re creating, no matter the deadline.

You thrive on constructive criticism. You can self-edit and consider criticism the key to future success. You know both when to hold your ground and when to adapt your approach based on feedback.

A day in the life

Working at an agency, you'll have the opportunity to work with various clients across a diverse range of industries. One day you might work on logos for a local nonprofit, presenting them to your team for input. Another day you might add your visual magic to some copy, creating eye-catching graphics for a travel brand’s Instagram page. No two days are the same.

That said, there are a few activities that will likely take up most of your time. These include:

  • Collaborating with your team, taking direction and overseeing junior members
  • Working to support both digital and traditional design production
  • Working independently on smaller projects, self-managing time to meet your deadlines
  • Managing your files and archiving work as you go
  • Presenting and rationalizing design in both client and internal meetings

What's in it for you?

Evans Hunt is a full-service digital agency focused on the integration of strategy, creative and technology. Our experienced team of 90+ employees delivers complete marketing solutions for top local, national and international organizations. We’re a fun place that does good work. Here’s what we’re offering:

  • Salary range: TBD (subject to experience)
  • Culture & lifestyle: We’re an agency and take pride in our work, but family and wellbeing need nurturing too. You’ll have flexible hours and lots of opportunities to celebrate with your teammates. A respectful and inclusive workplace in which all are welcome is important to us and we’re not much for micromanaging.
  • Office availability: We’re working remotely during the pandemic, with optional in-office desks available for booking.
  • Stuff: A laptop and a phone allowance will be provided, along with health and dental benefits, a health spending account and some other nice perks.

What we’ll ask

There are a couple of things we’ll ask you to submit when applying for this role:

  • Cover letter: Tell us a little about yourself and your fit for the job (it’s true that companies don’t look at applications that don’t include cover letters).
  • Portfolio: If you make it to the interview stage, we'll ask that you present your portfolio.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Evans Hunt embraces and encourages the differences and characteristics that make our employees unique. The rich perspectives that result from DE&I promote innovation and business success and make us more creative, flexible, productive and competitive. These differences are an important part of not only our culture but our reputation and achievements. At Evans Hunt, diversity is a fact, and equity and inclusion are choices we make as individuals and leaders. For shortlisted candidates, accommodations are available upon request during any stage of the recruitment process, please email
